Do you have a ceremony backup plan for inclement weather?
Yes. Your ceremony can be held inside the barn or in a tent (provided by renter) in the field.
Do you have indoor bathrooms with handicap accessibility?
Yes. We provide three beautiful, clean, restrooms in the barn. One is handicapped accessible, if needed.
Does this venue meet all local township and building codes?
Yes. Bluebird Farm Weddings is authorized to operate as a venue for weddings and other special events. It has passed all required inspections.
Is the barn air conditioned?
No. But the barn has several fans and the windows and doors do open, if needed. We’ve found this does keep the space cool in the summer. The bridal and groom gathering spaces/dressing rooms have available air conditioning at no additional charge.
Is the barn heated?
No. You are welcome to rent approved portable indoor and/or outdoor heaters for your event. The bridal and groom gathering spaces/dressing rooms have available heating at no additional charge.
Can we have a pet in our ceremony?
We love our pets too. Please discuss this with Bluebird Farm Weddings so we can approve details prior to the event.
Can we choose a caterer of our choice?
Yes. You can choose a caterer of your choice or off our preferred caterer list. Please check with us before hiring a vendor that’s not on our preferred vendor list. We want to ensure your event team is made up of reputable professionals who have your best interests in mind.
Can we bring our own food?
No. We require that food be supplied by a professional caterer or a caterer department of a grocer. You are welcome to bring your own cake, cookies, pies, etc, but please keep food safety concerns in mind and avoid ingredients that easily spoil.
What time do couples normally schedule their ceremony?
The timeline is yours to plan. You do need time to set up, have the ceremony, eat, dance and clean up by 11pm.
Can we hire our own bartender or bartender service?
We require that a bartender or bartender service have a valid NYS liquor license.
Can we supply the ingredients for our alcoholic beverages?
This would need to be discussed with your bartender or catering service which has a valid NYS liquor license.
Can we choose our own vendors?
Yes. We ask that you please check with us before hiring a vendor that’s not on our preferred vendor list. We want to ensure your event team is made up of reputable professionals who have your best interests in mind.
Does our reservation include an event rehearsal?
Yes. We offer a complimentary 1-hour rehearsal, day and time determined subject to venue availability.
Most of our guests do not live in the area. Where would they stay?
There are a number of beautiful local accommodations. Bluebird Farm Weddings can supply a list of our favorites.
Will you hold my date as I look around at other venues?
No. We believe that it’s only fair for everyone to book dates with a signed rental agreement and paid event deposit.
In what county do we apply for our marriage license?
Bluebird Farm Weddings is located in the Town of Rensselaerville in southern Albany County in New York. You can find out more information at the Albany County website here.
Is smoking allowed inside the barn?
No. Part of our barn was built in 1885 so for safety reasons smoking is not allowed inside or near the venue. There is a designated smoking area outside the barn.
Can we setup yard games?
Yes. There is plenty of space on the grounds. Please discuss this with Bluebird Farm Weddings so we can accommodate your needs.
